The town of Shandaken comprises 12 hamlets with neighborhoods that are unique in geography, economies and offerings. Phoenicia is famous for the Phoenicia Diner and the annual Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, while Pine Hill lures visitors due to its proximity to Belleayre Mountain. Belleayre Mountain is a four-season ski resort featuring the Catskill Thunder, the only gondola in the Catskill region. Belleayre Beach is a splendid spot for the summer. Some of the most picturesque scenes unfold before you if you wish to climb Slide Mountain, the tallest Catskill Mountain at 4,180 feet, or take a short day hike to Giant Ledge, a perfect hike for the young ones.

There are a multitude of recreational activities available for all ages, from skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter to fishing, swimming, hiking, biking and canoeing in the summer. There is also a uniquely colorful autumnal season, a celebration of nature on its own terms.
