View from Franny Reese State Park in Lloyd, New York

Halfway between Albany and New York City, right along the Hudson River, is the hamlet of Highland, in the town of Lloyd, a point of connection from the east and west shores via the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge. Its biggest attraction is the Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge.

Visitors also seek out Highland for Rocking Horse Ranch Resort, one of the top family resorts in the country, and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, a family-friendly trail that stretches from Highland toward New Paltz. Craft beverage tours and local orchards attract the foodies.

Highland also can be your home base for kayaking, biking, and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. With the sun sparkling on nearby creeks and ponds and the forest climbing the surrounding Illinois Mountain, Highland’s tranquil beauty awaits you.
