About Senate House State Historic Site

Guided tours of the furnished historic home of the Van Gaasbeek family where New York’s first Senate met in 1777. Museum featuring the world’s largest collection of John Vanderlyn paintings, objects and documents of the 17th – 19th centuries. Picnic in the park-like setting, enjoy numerous special events and activities. Open mid-April – October 31, Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. and by appointment. Tours for groups and school programs year-round by appointment.
