John Burroughs’ Slabsides and Nature Sanctuary

John Burroughs (1837-1921) was one of the most popular and influential authors of his day and is considered the originator of the modern nature essay. The one room cabin interior remains as Burroughs left it in 1920 and is visible through large front windows. It is set within 200-acres of preserve land with a network of Greenway Hiking Trails through dramatic rocky cliffs and pristine woods that inspired much of his writing.
