Rock, paper, paintbrush! Join us for an outdoor, hands-on class led by New Paltz, NY-based fine artist and organic watercolor paint maker, Laura Leigh. Bringing a colorful collection of sedimentary rock and clay from the surrounding areas, Laura will share her knowledge about basic geology, the history of pigments, and how to safely pound, mix, and mold rock dust and other pigments into a unique, artistic medium that is both historic and modern. Students will get hands-on time making organic watercolor paint, then settle in for a guided free paint session.
All supplies will be provided. No prior experience in art or painting is required. We encourage all types of people to get in touch with their creative side, and enjoy the act of pounding rock, mixing the paint, and putting brush to paper! Brunch beverages and snacks to accompany.
