Presented in collaboration with transdisciplinary artist Marian (Mau) Schoettle, the program will honor the 146 garment workers who lost their lives in the 1911 fire. Participants will gather for a collective reading of the victims’ names, with a bell rung after each in remembrance.
The program will also reflect on the enduring significance of labor history in the United States, with particular attention to the role of immigrant workers in the garment industry. Weather permitting, attendees are invited to contribute to a temporary chalk memorial.
