SUMMARY:Paper Dolls: A Midnight Ballet in the Hudson Valley
DESCRIPTION:Paper Dolls is an immersive night of performance art and collective action to pass a law ending sexual abuse at the hands of law enforcement in the state of New York. For one night\, on September 18th\, we come together to write letters to our New York representatives while enjoying a stacked lineup of entertainment. Feast your eyes and ears as Gentle Mothh performs her debut album Paper Thin\, dancers move across the stage and room in acts ranging from burlesque to drag to pole\, performed by members of the sex worker community and their allies. Illuminate your mind as attorney Rebecca Cleary\, JD\, of A.S.H. Coalition\, a leading expert on police sexual misconduct policy\, briefs us on the law we are fighting for. Then let yourself relax and unwind at the midnight ballet\, sensual performances by a cast composed entirely of current and former adult industry workers. There will be prizes\, bisexual beverages\, and treats galore. The theme is “Paper Dolls” and the dress code is high femme and hardware – it’s giving – chomping at the My-Little-Pony-bit – whatever that means to you. \nThe issue: current policy in New York allows law enforcement to have sexual contact with people under investigation. This loophole has led to city and county funded\, systemic exploitation of workers in the adult industry\, as police carry out undercover sting operations: posing as clients\, extracting services\, and then arresting providers. This is not a rare situation caused by a few bad actors. After excessive use of force\, police sexual misconduct is the second most reported form of police misconduct across the country. Join us in making New York a safer and sexier place.

SUMMARY:Donna the Buffalo w/ Michael Glabicki (of Rusted Root) at Assembly - Kingston
DESCRIPTION:Donna The Buffalo is not just a band\, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989\, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Merle Fest\, and Philadelphia Folk Festival. \nThey’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan\, Del McCoury\, Los Lobos\, Little Feat\, Jim Lauderdale\, Rusted Root\, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. \nIn 1991\, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg\, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15\,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date\, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg\, New York as four days of music\, art\, dance and movement workshops\, including nightly dinners and dances.

SUMMARY:Amélie Farren\, Lilith Max & Rabbitology
DESCRIPTION:AMÉLIE FARREN \nAmélie Farren started writing songs at twelve because she needed somewhere to put things. That hasn’t changed. At 18\, she writes alt-pop songs that are specific enough to make a listener feel like they’re inside a moment or feeling they know well\, but never had words for. \nLILITH MAX \nLilith Max is a master of storytelling\, weaving tales of enchantment and whimsy. Her fantasy-folk-inspired music pulls the audience into a world of knights\, myths\, and magic\, giving listeners room for their imagination to roam free. \nRABBITOLOGY \nEveryone has their own world. Fragments of moments lived\, translated and understood through metaphor and storytelling. Rabbitology is the project of Nat Timmerman—a world that was pulled from her odd-running mind. A little land of the harebrained and burrowing. Venture into these eclectic soundscapes\, and here you will discover a collection of memoirs turned into fantastical sonic short stories.

SUMMARY:Margaret Glaspy
DESCRIPTION:In an era of excess and endless distraction\, the New York-based singer/songwriter Margaret Glaspy rejects the noise in favor of something far more essential. On the self-possessed title track for her new album I Am Both Glaspy offers an ardent refusal of any outside pressure to compromise her multidimensionality. “I wrote ‘I Am Both’ a while ago; the story is based on a female character that I look up to deeply—a woman who contains multitudes while seeing reality very clearly\,” says Glaspy. “It can feel safer to try to fit myself into a category\, but I find that embracing my own complexity is much healthier for me.” That embrace of complexity runs throughout the album’s eleven tracks. \n

SUMMARY:Angelo De Augustine w/ Erin Rae
DESCRIPTION:Angelo De Augustine returns with Angel in Plainclothes\, his fifth album and most inspired work yet—a deeply felt rendering of his multi-year journey of healing and renewal. The record showcases De Augustine’s powerful melodies and poignant lyrics across tracks like the haunting elegy “Empty Shell\,” the hopeful “Spirit of the Unknown\,” and standout psychedelic country piece “Mirror Mirror.” Themes explore life’s fragility\, second chances\, and picking up the pieces after an undiagnosed illness forced him to re-learn basic abilities: “I’m trying to figure out who I am now\,” De Augustine says. “I feel like I may have been given a second chance at life\, and I’d like to live it.”
