DESCRIPTION:A weekend full of printmaking during Art Walk Kingston\nThe Midtown Kingston Arts District (MKAD) presents the 2026 Steamroller Print Fest as part of Art Walk Kingston. During the weekend-long fest\, various events will take place simultaneously at two MKAD locations. \nOccurring on Saturday\, September 19th (rain-date: September 20th) from 11-4pm\, this supersized event is a printmaking tradition and celebration of the artists in our community. 25+ local artists come together to carve and print 2 ft’ linoleum blocks with a steamroller live on Iwo Jima Lane! Come witness this printing process\, meet the artists\, join free workshops\, and enjoy live music and hot food! \nDuring the Steamroller Print Fest visitors are welcomed to come by the Neighborhood Print Studio at 49 Greenkill Avenue. We will be selling proofs by the artists of their prints. We will also provide live tours and demonstrations of the printing equipment throughout our print shop. It will be a valuable opportunity to be introduced to the space and meet the artists working at our studio!

DESCRIPTION:All my work begins with observation from nature. I want to know what lies behind the forms and textures –the marks of time and experience written into everything from fossils and rock formations to plants and trees. \nMy drawings and sculptures are partners in crime and dancing partners. Drawing involves investigative mark-making and sculpture is a form of physical thinking. The combination is a material proposition that invites you to look at the world in a completely different way\, to escape words and communicate in a physical way. \nRather than working realistically\, I’d rather look beneath the surface to observe raw energy and a struggle. The forces of growth and decay\, pressure\, time\, and adverse human influences work their way into the tension between 2D and 3D. DESCRIPTION:World renowned virtuoso Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya has pioneered the Hindustani slide guitar and is the undisputed master of this demanding technique. With a career spanning over 45 years\, Debashish has performed live and recorded with Ustad Zakir Hussain\, Pandit Ravi Shankar\, John McLaughlin (who said that Debashish “has no equal” among slide guitarists)\, Jerry Douglas\, Derek Trucks and many other renowned musicians. \nThrough exhaustive research and experience\, he has designed and patented four guitars for raga music all played lap style\, with a small steel bar and finger picks: Chaturangui\, a 24-string hollow-neck lap steel guitar that blends the features of a sitar\, sarod\, and veena; Gandharvi\, a 14-string slide instrument; Anandi\, a 4-string lap steel ukulele/mandolin and Pushpa Veena\, a 25-string slide instrument featuring an animal-skin top. \nIn the venerable Indian tradition of families passing artistic skill down through generations\, Debashish’s son Suryadipta has developed impressive musicianship under his father’s tutelage and will join his father for this event.

Drawing involves investigative mark-making and sculpture is a form of physical thinking. The combination is a material proposition that invites you to look at the world in a completely different way\, to escape words and communicate in a physical way. \nRather than working realistically\, I’d rather look beneath the surface to observe raw energy and a struggle. The forces of growth and decay\, pressure\, time\, and adverse human influences work their way into the tension between 2D and 3D. The exhibition also touches on the work of the Woodstock sculptors Grace Mott Johnson\, Hunt Diederich\, Carl Walters\, John B. Flannagan\, and Hartman’s husband Paul Fiene\, who joined her as part of an outstanding group of twentieth century American artists who were devoted to depicting animal subjects.
