Over the course of two days\, visitors and local residents are invited to explore three distinct areas of the city of Kingston and immerse themselves in a range of art and events. Paintings\, photographs and sculptures are just some of the mediums that will be on display at home studios and galleries. Past events average over 200 artists at dozens of locations throughout the city\, making this event one of the largest open studio tours in the Hudson River Valley. Whether you have a few hours or a full day\, the event weekend will offer a broad range of art and activities for everyone.

DESCRIPTION:World renowned virtuoso Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya has pioneered the Hindustani slide guitar and is the undisputed master of this demanding technique. With a career spanning over 45 years\, Debashish has performed live and recorded with Ustad Zakir Hussain\, Pandit Ravi Shankar\, John McLaughlin (who said that Debashish “has no equal” among slide guitarists)\, Jerry Douglas\, Derek Trucks and many other renowned musicians. \nThrough exhaustive research and experience\, he has designed and patented four guitars for raga music all played lap style\, with a small steel bar and finger picks: Chaturangui\, a 24-string hollow-neck lap steel guitar that blends the features of a sitar\, sarod\, and veena; Gandharvi\, a 14-string slide instrument; Anandi\, a 4-string lap steel ukulele/mandolin and Pushpa Veena\, a 25-string slide instrument featuring an animal-skin top. \nIn the venerable Indian tradition of families passing artistic skill down through generations\, Debashish’s son Suryadipta has developed impressive musicianship under his father’s tutelage and will join his father for this event.

SUMMARY:Rosendale International Pickle Festival
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1997\, The Rosendale International Pickle Festival is held once a year\, on the 3rd Sunday of October. We host over 100 vendors who sell pickles\, groceries\, hot food\, baked goods\, crafts\, fashion\, jewelry\, and more. There’s a home pickling contest and the Pickle Triathlon offers a pickle eating contest\, pickle juice drinking and a pickle toss. The organizers are a grassroots committee made up of local volunteers. Up to 7\,000 people visit the Pickle Festival every year. All proceeds are donated back into the Rosendale community every year.
