Nine dance studios from throughout the Hudson Valley will come together to share an extensive array of styles in one exciting evening of dance.\nThe vision of DanceFest is to inspire all participating dancers and their surrounding communities to share and celebrate one another in a spirit of respect\, cooperation\, and enthusiasm. DESCRIPTION:Presented in collaboration with transdisciplinary artist Marian (Mau) Schoettle\, the program will honor the 146 garment workers who lost their lives in the 1911 fire. Participants will gather for a collective reading of the victims’ names\, with a bell rung after each in remembrance.\nThe program will also reflect on the enduring significance of labor history in the United States\, with particular attention to the role of immigrant workers in the garment industry. Weather permitting\, attendees are invited to contribute to a temporary chalk memorial.
