The Ulster County SPCA is partnering with two national organizations to get pets “home for the holidays.” We’ve faced challenges this year with staffing shortages, increased intakes, and reduced adoptions and donations. All this adds up to the shelter being over capacity, and animals staying for longer periods.

This year has been particularly challenging for adoptions, although we have many, many wonderful pets available, including pure breds. Our large breed dogs are especially in need of loving new homes. As much as we love them all here, we share their wish of a home for the holidays.

From December 1 – 8, we’re participating in BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope” event, during which adoption fees
are $25 for cats and $50 for dogs.

From December 9 – 11, Best Friends Animal Society’s National Adoption Weekend features reduced fees of $50 for cats and $150 for dogs.
