In 2020 the Kinston YMCA Farm Youth Empowerment program spearheaded an effort to make November 26th Sojourner Truth Day an official New York State Holiday. The teenagers involved in the program have successfully had proclamations for the holiday approved by the city of Kingston, the town of Ulster and Ulster County.
