Midsummer Revival Concert Series – Jazz Night

August 21, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us on August 18th for Midsummer Revival Concert Series – Jazz Night.  Jazz Night shines the spotlight on Bridge Arts & Education, one of the tenants at Enterprise West. Bridge Arts is a non-profit dedicated to promoting education and collaboration to grow a more diverse and innovative music community. Artist Director (and Town of Ulster resident) Dan Shaut will lead the Bridge Arts Community Big Band at the culmination of a week of clinics for the students. The band performs classic jazz charts and will be performing the music of Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons and Leonard Bernstein.

Headlining the show will be the Roland Vazquez Band. His large ensemble is known for playing Afro Latin rhythmic chamber jazz, with his “…precise writing, with an intriguing rhythm section…that effectively functions as an orchestra within the orchestra.” (Downbeat). For this performance he brings his septet featuring Tristen Napoli (trumpet), Kevin Bene (alto sax), Max Barnes,(tenor sax), Dan Shaut (baritone sax), Bryan Ponton (keyboard) Rich Syracuse (acoustic bass), Roland Vazquez (drums/composer) Pito Castillo(congas). Vazquez is widely recognized as an innovator of Latin Jazz Fusion music whose all-star bands performed and recorded in NYC for over 20 years. Mr. Vazquez teaches in the jazz departments at Bard and Vassar College. Grounds will open at 3pm, the concert will begin at 4 p.m., ending at 7 p.m.

Don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket. This performance will take place under the shade of trees, in a lovely setting! There will be food trucks and craft vendors. This event is FREE and open to the public.
